Description

Numbers Matching L24 Inline-six Engine Excellent Mechanical condition Chassis no. HSL30-74072 80,243 Miles Shown Major Service just completed including all new shocks and tires Price: $29,750 The 240z was Datsun’s first foray into the mainstream sportscar market. Datsun had produced sports cars in the past, but they now wanted to compete with the Europeans, especially in the booming American market. The 240z was the start to one of the most successful lines of sports cars of all time, the Z car. Released in 1970 it’s name stood for it’s displacement, 2.4 liters. This small sports car produced 151 horsepower out of its inline six. the series 1 240z ended in mid-1971, with the series II cars receiving slight cosmetic changes. Throughout the 240z’s history it has been used for many purposes, ranging from road racing to rally, even winning the East African Rally in 1973. The 240z helped put Japan on the map for sports cars, proving that they were able to make more than small economy cars. Presented here is an excellent example of a original driver quality Datsun 240z. The car is sporting what is believed to be largely original paint work, on top of a very straight and dry body. Rust is a huge problem for all old cars, but these are particularly notorious so finding a dry one like this is great! This example has been unmolested over the years, avoiding all the undesirable modifications that were so common in the 80s and 90s. Inside the car is also very original and unrestored. The seats are in wonderful condition, the foam has not broken down at all and the original vinyl seat coverings has very little wear and tear. The car still has all its original tools, including the jack and wheels chocks in their compartments. Under the hood of this 240z lays the numbers matching L24 Inline six. The engine fires up very easily with the turn of the key and idles smoothly. The engine pulls nicely and feels very strong and healthy, proven by the very consistent Compression numbers we tested. The 4 speed manual transmission shifts very nicely and the syncros seem to be in excellent condition. With prices of 240zs continuing to increase every day this is a great opportunity to get into an affordable example that is in great shape mechanically.
